The uncertainty in the political, social and economic directions of the state of Cameroon is intensifying the fight for the restoration of the state of the peoples of British Southern Cameroons in the coming years. This struggle is gathering momentum in the Diaspora particularly in the United States of America as witnessed by Our Cameroon Concord US Bureau Chief in Metropolitan Washington DC in the wake of the celebrations marking Memorial Day in the United States on May 25. A day dedicated for American heroes who lost their lives.
It was a highly spirited militants of the Southern Cameroons struggle that met at the premise of Lambi Wamesai in Washington to make public their intentions to the readers of Cameroon Concord the existence of a group “God Bless Southern Cameroons”. In the course of their annual closed door discussions, Cameroon Concord gathered that these Southern Cameroons vibrant militancy in the US has nothing to do with SCNC, SCAPO and the Southern Cameroons Youth League. They admitted that failure of the AAC I & II in Buea and Bamenda ostensibly gave birth to the SCNC. But since its creation SCNC has not been answerable to anybody. The way their operations are been carried out makes it clear that the restoration of British Southern Cameroons remains an illusion. In short ever since it was created it has never had a visionary leadership.
The group Southern Cameroons uses the Memorial Day observed in the United States to inform the United Nations of the vital importance to reinstate a legal relationship between La Repulique and Southern Cameroons through a legal referendum.
